Who We Are
More than just a business.
It's a new chapter.
Eagle Nest Cabins & Marina is more than a business to our family — it’s a new chapter in a life built on hard work, entrepreneurship, and a love for the outdoors.
We’re Alan (AJ) and Alisha Owens, proud Kansas natives with deep roots in small-town values and family-run businesses. For years, our lives revolved around building and operating businesses in Southwest Kansas, where we still own and operate a welding, fabrication and metal distribution shop.
Check us out at liberalnewironandmetal.com.
AJ is a skilled welder and fabricator by trade, known for his craftsmanship and creativity. Over time, guests will likely notice his custom metalwork appearing around the property — from functional improvements to unique pieces. He enjoys bringing ideas to life and even welcomes guests’ ideas for their own custom creations. From fire pits to signs, let AJ bring your ideas to life!
Alisha’s background is rooted in community leadership and tourism. She served as Executive Director of her local Chamber of Commerce, worked on the Economic Development Board and lead local tourism efforts in her hometown. Hospitality, guest experience, and community growth have long been part of her world, making Eagle Nest a natural fit.
Our daughter Courtney is also part of this journey. With a strong management background and a heart for hospitality, she plays a key role in operations.
Alisha and Courtney will be on-site running the day-to-day activities and welcoming guests. For us, this is truly a family endeavor.
Interestingly, Eagle Nest Cabins & Marina found us when we weren’t even looking for another business. We were on a simple getaway in the area when we happened to drive by Eagle Nest Cabins & Marina and noticed a “For Sale” sign.
Something about it stuck with us. One conversation led to another, and what began as a passing moment turned into a life-changing decision. Just six months later, here we are — grateful we followed that nudge.
We are incredibly grateful to John and Renita, who built on a wonderful business here and cared for it for many years, building it into the community staple it is.The foundation they created is what makes Eagle Nest Cabins & Marina so special today, and we are honored to carry that forward.
We are equally thankful that Doc chose to stay on with us. He is knowledgeable, dependable, and deeply connected to the property. More than anything, he truly cares about this place and the people who visit it. Eagle Nest Cabins & Marina simply wouldn’t be the same without him.
Looking ahead, we have many ideas and plans for the future of Eagle Nest Cabins & Marina. Our goal is to thoughtfully improve and grow while preserving the charm and history that make this place so loved. We want Eagle Nest to be somewhere families return to year after year — a place full of memories, traditions, and outdoor adventures.
If you’re in the area, we invite you to stop by the marina, say hello, and share your thoughts or stories. We genuinely value feedback and love getting to know our guests and our community.
Thank you for being part of our story. We can’t wait to be part of yours.
